A gallery wall always looks effective. So other than a spirit level, what else do you need? Here are some tips from Lagerhaus.
Contradictory as it may sound, the results are more harmonious if you place lots of pictures together than if you spread them out on several walls. You create an even better balance through alignment and size of the frames.
If you decide to have an asymmetric gallery wall, it's a good idea to use one or two larger paintings that create a balance on the wall. This also makes it easier to build up the display. If you decide to arrange them into a square or rectangular grouping, then it is the layout that creates the balance. You can use various-sized pictures and distances as long as they are inside the invisible frame.
3. Colour scheme
What is most important is to hang pieces that inspire you personally. If you're aiming to create a cohesive look for the room as a whole, however, there are a few tricks you can use. For example, use pictures that repeat colours that are found in the rug, the cushions on the sofa or elsewhere in the room. More often than not, it's the small, thought-out details that create uniformity and harmony in home décor!
